Sean Shannon
Welcome to my training world. I’m Sean Shannon, a dedicated fitness professional with over a decade of experience helping clients build strength, confidence, and sustainable results, both in-person and online. I currently serve as the Fitness Manager at Self Made Training Facility (SMTF), where I mentor trainers, develop systems, and help elevate both client outcomes and coaching businesses while continuing to actively coach clients through one-on-one, semi-private personal training and online coaching.
My fitness journey began at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, where I studied Exercise Science. During college, I had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Limerick in Ireland, immersing myself in Advanced Exercise Physiology, which expanded my understanding of human performance and movement science.
After graduating, I moved overseas to Abu Dhabi, where I worked as a math teacher while traveling to 19 different countries. During this chapter of my life, I discovered my passion for bodybuilding and weightlifting, eventually competing in multiple competitions and gaining firsthand experience in the discipline, structure, and mindset required for high-level physical transformation.
In 2014, I returned to the United States and became a certified personal trainer through ISSA, along with earning my nutrition specialist certification. I firmly believe that long-term success is built through the integration of intelligent training, proper nutrition, and sustainable lifestyle habits. I spent 2 years at a corporate “big box” gym before making a life changing decision…
In 2016, I partnered with Self Made Training Facility in Temecula, stepping into entrepreneurship to create a more personalized, results-driven coaching experience. Today, I balance my role as Fitness Manager with hands-on coaching, working directly with clients in personal training and semi-private training settings, while also supporting and mentoring trainers as they grow their careers and businesses.
I’m also the host of multiple podcasts, including The Coaches Corner, where I focus on competition prep, the realities of bodybuilding, and building a successful coaching business, and The Comeback Series, which highlights the real stories of trainers who have navigated the ups and downs of entrepreneurship while partnering with Self Made; and how they continue to rebuild, grow, and evolve.
