Sean Barefield
My relationship with fitness started long before Built by Barefield. I grew up in Washington State
and was an athlete from a young age, but it wasn’t until high school that I began taking fitness
and strength training seriously. Growing up, I was always the skinny kid and struggled to put on
muscle and even eat enough to support the goals I had for myself. By my senior year, I began
bodybuilding and intentionally training alongside people who were bigger and stronger than me
because I knew that if I wanted to grow, I needed to challenge myself.
After high school, I spent two years training at a sports performance facility alongside college
and professional-level athletes while pursuing the opportunity to play Division I football. That
environment taught me a different level of discipline, commitment, and what it truly meant to
train with purpose. Eventually, it was time to hang up the cleats, but I never lost the athlete
mentality. I continued training because I loved the structure, confidence, and sense of
accomplishment it gave me, both mentally and physically.
My journey eventually brought me from Washington State to Temecula, California, which I’ve
called home for the past six years. Along the way, I’ve attended both the University of Arizona
and Washington State University and have spent more than 10 years working in the hospitality
industry. Working with people for so many years has shown me how much I genuinely enjoy
connecting with, encouraging, and caring for others. That same passion for people is something I
now bring into Built by Barefield.
I created Built by Barefield because I want my journey to be an example of what is possible
when you decide to truly invest in yourself. Fitness has taught me that results come from
consistency, discipline, and showing up for yourself even when you don’t feel like it and I
believe the same mentality applies to life. Whether you’re stepping into the gym for the first
time, a former athlete trying to find that competitive side of yourself again, someone who already
trains but needs direction, or simply someone looking to build confidence, I want you to know
there is a place for you here.
My goal isn’t for you to become me it’s to help you discover what you are capable of becoming.
I want to provide the structure, guidance, and encouragement that can help you become stronger
physically, build confidence mentally, and create a lifestyle you’re genuinely proud of. Because
to me, Built by Barefield is about more than building a body. It’s about building yourself.
